Fearful symmetry!

I’ve been cutting and snipping, measuring and aligning… and produced this crazily symmetrical wallet:

Tangerine Trees Wallet

When my customer chose this amazing print – Nouveau Trees from Amy Butler’s Midwest Modern collection – for her commission wallet, I knew that only totally accurate positioning and cutting would do. It was a challenge, let me tell you…

The scary symmetry is on the inside too:

Can you tell how proud I am…?! With many thanks, as usual, for this wonderful wallet tutorial from Confessions of a Fabricaholic.

I have to say that Midwest Modern is probably still my favourite Amy Butler collection, it was quite nice to discover I could still get hold of bits of it at The Cotton Patch. Are you an Amy Butler fan? I find some of her patterns tough to work with, but they can be very rewarding.

A Little Fabric Update

I am have been most remiss with my fabric updates lately, but will try and get back on track a bit over the next couple of weeks.

Lovely new fabrics

Fancy Nancy has some fabulous new fabrics from the Kiyohara textile house in Japan..  There are some scrummy things like these:

Planes

Emma Flower

Poppy Border

Just in at Seamstar is the gorgeous It’s a Hoot collection from Momo.  As Courtney points out, it’s a huge collection, so it’s hard to pick favourite designs, but on first impressions I really like these:

Trees – Malt Sky

Hoots – Marshmallow

In Flight – Sky

Saints and Pinners have the lovely Cloud9 My Happy Nursery in stock now. These are very charming designs I think (and wasted on a nursery if my babies were anything to go by!). I think my favourites are these (but once again it’s pretty hard to decide).

Ele-Fete – Shell

Flock – Sky

Leaves – Sky
