Hi! Welcome to Very Berry Handmade – thanks so much for visiting! My name is Ali, and I’m a designer-maker based at Acava Studios: Spode Works in Stoke on Trent. I specialise in sewing and crochet, but if you’re a regular reader you’ll also know that I love good food and my veggie garden too!
I grew up in Stoke, but left for University when I was 18, thinking I’d never come back, but here I am! Having lived in Cambridge, Sheffield, Liverpool, London and back in Cambridge again, I’ve returned to the homelands, with family (husband Sandy, our twin sons, and crazy pooch) in tow. We’re loving being part of what feels like the revitalisation of the area, and I am very excited to be based at Spode, a former pottery factory, because my family worked in the industry going back through the generations, and I feel a huge connection with the place.
More about my work:
I love patchwork, but although I do sometimes make quilts, I prefer to use patchwork techniques to make accessories and homewares. My work has been featured in various magazines:
- Love Patchwork and Quilting
- Love Sewing
- Mollie Makes
- Today’s Quilter
I am very happy to hear from shops or other advertisers in the craft field who would like to work with me. Perhaps you’d like to read about sponsorship opportunities on my blog and how to get in touch with me. I’d love to hear from you.
