Thanks so much all for the comments you’ve left on my Black Sheep Wools Baby Quilt post – you have been so helpful, and it’s so great that you all have such strong views, I love it! I am working on revamped designs. I love this crowd-sourcing lark!
I was on my own when it came to working on my first commission for Today’s Quilter (so exciting to be working for another quilt magazine but still with the fabulous Jenny F-P who used to be editor at Love Patchwork and Quilting). I could have done with some crowd-sourcing or hive-minding then, I was so nervous. Jenny could tell you about all the daft twitchy emails I sent when all my confidence went… something about working for a magazine and getting the style right, I think.
Anyhow, I was really pleased to get the magazine last week and see my makes looking pretty good.
I was super-keen to use lots of scraps (I have – no exaggeration – one of these IKEA units full of Liberty lawn scraps), so went with restrained colour schemes so that I wouldn’t have to think about anything other than pulling out the right coloured scraps. My favourite is the blue/grey one, I love the architectural quality that the tiny log-cabin pieces bring. It has definitely inspired me to add a log cabin project in neutral solids to my Wish List of Future Projects!
Are you buying Today’s Quilter? I am enjoying it so far – there’s a lovely mix of projects and a very pleasing focus on technique – I am learning a lot. I love Carolyn Forster’s blue triangle quilt on the front cover this month – gorgeous stuff.
