Fabric & Sewing News

Tonight we’re talking about gorgeous new fabrics and projects you can sew with them, with the help of my awesome sponsors Dragonfly Fabrics, My Fabric House and The Sewing Directory. So what goodies have they got for us right now?

Dragonfly Fabrics - Designer Dressmaking Fabrics

Well it didn’t take me long to feel inspired… There’s definitely (definitely!) still time to stitch up a party top using some of the gorgeous new lawn and crepe de chine fabrics they have in stock, using one of the beginner patterns which are also available:

Or if your mind is turned to stitching projects for colder weather – there are some very inspiring cosy fabrics just waiting to be turned into something lovely. And check out the really cute mitten kit – which would make a great stocking filler – made or unmade!

There are some more great ideas for projects matching fabric and patterns in the Dragonfly Newsletter this month. There’s some fantastic stuff here, probably because the lovely Dorte, joint owner of Dragonfly, is a real dressmaker, instead of a purely imaginary one like me!

My Fabric House

My Fabric House also have lots of delicious new fabrics in stock – if you are sewing for little ones at this time of year, there are some gorgeous ditzy pinks, and I love this adorable kawaii bundle:

They also have this brushed cotton with a brilliantly colourful owl design, which has me reaching for my wallet. What a fantastic fabric for soft cushions, hot water bottle covers, fleecy blankets and more – a real stunner.

There’s so much good stuff on this list, especially if you are a bit short of time, but my particular favourites are the lovely wallet for women, and the super cute bear Kindle case, the very simple boxy purse tutorial and the elegant fabric storage cube pattern.

  1. Great blog post! I made the Sencha blouse Colette a few times and it has worked out fine. I’ve just finished making the Zinnia skirt from Colette which has proved fairly incident free! I’m also going to have a look at Fabric House. I love Fabric Rehab, but other ideas of fabric shops are always welcome!

We always love reading your comments... go ahead, say hello!
