Substitute sewer

Awful confession…. I haven’t sewn a single stitch since before last weekend. But I have excuses! Hot weather and Ashes cricket have been terribly distracting; I have been working hard on putting together goodies for the lovely folks who are going to The Stitch Gathering up in Edinburgh at the end of August (Very Berry Fabrics is a sponsor); and I have been doing some tentative early work on opening a stand-alone Very Berry shop (exciting!).

So today I am relying on a very generous substitute stitcher Claire to provide a pretty photo for my blog. She made this gorgeous cushion cover using my Liberty Wallflower cushion tutorial and a cushion fabric kit from my Very Berry Fabrics shop on Folksy.

Lovely or what?  I am so pleased that it turned out so well for Claire – she has done a fantastic job. During our email chat Claire was telling me about her brother’s business venture called Inspirational Breaks… I can’t tell you how much I fancy checking out the Scottish Highlands Relaxation Week right now… Maybe when I hit the big time!

Speaking of relaxation, if you fancy making a cushion without the stress of cutting your fabric – I have one kit now in stock (I know, one whole kit!!!), but with more to come after I have finished The Stitch Gathering prep. I also wanted to tell you about a new product to the shop – pretty rainbow scrap packs. You get 20 scraps of lovely Liberty Lawn in rainbow colours like this, all ready for lots of colourful sewing:

I do hope the idea appeals… they have been selling out over on my Facebook page, so I thought it was time to get them in the shop. Hope you like the idea too.

Hope you all have fabulous weekend plans…!

  1. Oooh, now I’m extra glad the teachers get goodie bags at Stitch Gathering 😉 I wonder how long they had to wait to get sun at Drumnadrochit…

  2. Read the title as a sewer of the Bazalgette variety! It sounds like you have wonderful things going on Ali! All well deserved!

    1. Thanks Kay – it’s just packing loads of freebies, but very time consuming… I totally agree about the cushion.. Hope you’ve had a great w/e and sorry it has taken me so long to reply to your comment.

  3. Love the cushion, I really must get my act together and have a go myself. Fingers crossed for your exciting plans.

  4. The Ashes is very distracting! As an English girl married to an Aussie it is a big deal in our house!

We always love reading your comments... go ahead, say hello!
