Getting some momentum…

My enthusiasm for blogging is creeping back as my sewing is getting more fun again. No surprises there I guess! The only problem is that I haven’t got much new to show you because my clippy-purse making is continuing…  Great for watching sport by… But I shall cast caution to the winds and be a blog bore…. at least until Friday when I promise to change the subject from Tana Lawn and clippy purses…

I had some of this beautiful Wiltshire Berry (it is right up there in my top Liberty Tana Lawn prints) lying around and it somehow found its way next to some bright red linen/cotton mix. I just thought ‘ker-pow!’ (the boys have been watching Batman…!) because they looked so vibrant together. I had one purse frame left (for now, <evil laugh>hahahaha</evil laugh.), so it all seemed very obvious really:

Finding a lining fabric to work with these two brights was a little bit tricky. I had an extensive delve into the stash box, and came up with this discreet grey stripe:

Here it is again:

Dead pleased with this one. For everyone who has asked, I’ve mentioned them before, but the pattern I use is by L & Y Patterns on Etsy – it’s absolutely excellent, and the clippy frame (a 10.5cm size) comes from 3DPatternPaper (in China but the delivery was quick and it works out a lot cheaper even with the postage).

I’m off to London tomorrow, not for the Olympics sadly, but for a long-planned trip to meet friends at the Great British Beer Festival. Hurrah! Back Friday with a change of subject, I promise, and in the mean time I’m getting back to the hockey – come on Team GB!

  1. Ha just catching up! You can carry on showing off purses – in fact post them on the purse swap pool as I’m sure I’m not the only one wanting to see them! I love this one Ali – so much so I’ve bought this pattern!

  2. LOVE your purse Ali! Have a great day at the beer fest too! Think it’s gonna be a hot one in town today! Njoi! xx 😀 xx 😀

  3. Reblogged this on Ola Niña and commented:
It has been a long time since my sewing machine had any action. It’s time to get back into my love affair with sewing and this project is not only inspiring but I always need a new change purse (I always lose them)!

  4. What a beautiful purse. I am inspired to order the pattern and clasps to have a go myself. Thanks for sharing.
