Good things..

My new sew-in labels have arrived…

Very Berry Product labels

I am SO pleased with these – they’re from labelname.co.uk, on a recommendation. I went for a standard design – maybe I’ll go custom next time, but I like these very much, so maybe not. The interface for selecting design and colour is really simple, and the quality is great. I’ve wanted to do this for ages, and it was so easy to sort out, I have no idea why it took me so long.

Here’s the first one ever, in position, in my completed Mouthy Stitches Swap zippered pouch.

Another good thing is getting the pouch finished in time for the posting deadline. Here it is, all done – the front:

and a little close up of my hand quilting:

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who made suggestions about the quilting. Your input made me have confidence to keep it simple and let the blocks and fabric pretty much speak for themselves. In the end I chose to stitch small petal shapes on the circles, then just go for a very simple outline everywhere else. I love the way that the hand quilting has give the pouch lots of texture. I just hope my partner likes it when it reaches her. Now I have to go and find some delicious scrap fabrics to include in her parcel…

I wonder which one of the gorgeous pouches I get in return – there is some gorgeous stuff in the Mouthy Stitches group pool on Flickr. Can’t wait!

  1. I really love your work and follow your blog more than any others – thank you for fuelling my enthusiam for sewing! Your pouch is lovely and I really like the linen fabric that you used, but I can’t seem to find anything like it – any ideas where I can look?

  2. Ali, that is so beautiful, your swap partner is so lucky! Each time I drop in your work gets more fab, I love your colour choices and the quality of the finished pieces shines through, go girl!!

  3. Lovely labels! I’ve checked out the site and will definitely get my next batch from them when i start to run low.
Gorgeous pouch – your swap partner will love it. You’ve obviously put a lot of thought and time into it.

    1. Thanks so much Teresa – I always like to try and do something new for a swap, and although although I have pieced curves before, I’ve never done such tiny ones, so it’s been a real challenge.

  4. The labels look amazing! They just seem to add the perfect finishing touch, don’t you think?
Glad the quilting went well and you are happy with it. Sometimes it can be tricky to summon up the courage to just go for it 🙂

  5. Your pouch is brilliant! And I love those labels. I am going to have to bite the bullet and get some because I am getting too jealous of everyone else’s!

  6. Perfect timing!!!
Scouring the internet for companies and (most importantly) recommendations for getting some woven labels produced is on my ‘To do list’ for this weekends evening surfing time.
They look lovely, no wonder you are pleased!!
    Thanks for your post.
