More finishes..

I’m doing nothing much more than sharing finished projects at the moment… so sorry! Because I have yet another bout of the dreaded toothache (how I wish I could go back to the 70s and tell myself to clean my teeth properly and lay off the boiled sweets… 😦 ) I have been spending time when I have the energy for working on finishing commissions rather than thinking up interest blog posts…  Here’s what I got finished off today:

A cute pair of booties:

I would make so many more of these if the final seam (sewing round edge of the sole – with all the bulk of the shoe to work round) wasn’t so flipping tricky! I have a couple of pairs that have been waiting for their final seam since before Christmas now..!

A crochet hook wrap – outside :

I’m rather pleased with the binding on the fastening section! And the inside:

And finally, yet ANOTHER zippy pouch:

I’ve just realised that I can enter the Seamstar Valentine’s Day competition on Flickr with this one, because the stripy linen and the cute bird and trees (both from Circa 60 Beach Mod by Monaluna), come from the Seamstar shop. There’s a brilliant prize if  you have been using Seamstar fabrics recently, it’s worth checking out.

I’m wondering about entering the Modern Mini Quilt Challenge… I have never made a mini quilt, but there’s a fabulous prize, so it’s very tempting to have a go…  Is anyone else being brave enough to have a go?

I promise to get back to you over the weekend with something more exciting than show and tell posts!

  1. I love a bit of show and tell, did you use a pattern for the booties or did you make up your own? I could do with making 4 or 5 new baby gifts (inc twins!) and am looking for a good pattern. thanks Mx

    1. Teeth are officially a nightmare – I have had a couple of really bad years with them… Next time I have toothache I will be tempted to ask the dentist to take it out straight away and we can forget the in between stages of trying to save it! Thanks for your kind words about my photos – people’s kindness over the last few days has really cheered me up. 🙂

    1. Thanks Dianne! In a way it makes me feel better that I’m not alone..! The only good thing about it is that it really reminds me to make sure that my kids’ teeth are well looked after…. Glad you like the booties.

  2. The crochet hook wrap is very neat and pretty. I keep mine in a plastic container that my mother gave me from when she used to work as a nurse. I should blog about it sometime!

    1. Thank you Teresa, I am really pleased with the design. I have made it a few times now, but still can’t remember how to do the fastening strap – I should really write it down! I would be very interested to read about your crochet hook storage – sounds like a nice story.

  3. Oh you poor thing – toothache (or any pain that happens in your head) is awful – you can’t avoid it! I love seeing all the finished projects, I’m hardly getting any sewing done at the moment due to poorly smallies and our freezing conservatory, so I’m pleased to see someone else is! The crochet hook wrap is particularly fine 🙂

    1. Thanks Helen – the problem is that it makes it so hard to think straight.. Anyhow, the end is in sight…! Sorry to hear your little ones are poorly – hope the are feeling better soon… and hope for all of us that the weather takes a turn for the better.

  4. Fab finishes! I’m going to have a play this weekend at a modern mini. I have an idea in my head, I just need to see if I can pull it off… o.O
