Weekly Fabric Update

Ottobre magazine giveaway at Dots n StripesDots n Stripes have a great giveaway going on over on their blog, but you’ll have to rush round because it finishes tomorrow. You can win one of 2 one year subscriptions to the lovely Ottobre sewing magazine plus 50EUR to spend in the Ottobre Etsy Shop. That sounds like a fantastic prize – especially if making clothes for yourself and your family is your thing.

Another offer that you are going to have to dash to make the most of… My Fabric House are giving a free Fat Quarter or 1m of trimming with every order this weekend (until the end of today). You need to quote 1 FQ or 1TR at the checkout to take advantage of this deal.

The current Sewing Directory giveaway is with a new-ish shop – Dragonfly Fabrics. You have the opportunity to win 1m of fabric from this really excellent shop (which I will review some time in the next few weeks), which specialises in fabrics which are good for dressmaking. The closing date for this one is Tuesday 1 November.

Lotta Jansdotter’s new line for Windham fabrics – called Echo – is suddenly all over the place. I’ve spotted it in Backstitch, Fabric Rehab, Seamstar and at M is for Make so far. This is a lovely collection, and I’m not surprised that everyone’s rushing to get it in! It’s bang on trend, with lots of greys, yellows and lilacs, and big bold organic designs. I’m a little bit over seed heads myself, but I love the cross hatch patterns and the smaller prints.

Echo - Deep Indigo Moira by Lotta Jansdotter at Fabric RehabI’ll leave it to you to find the cheapest source for Echo, but it’s worth knowing that Seamstar have a new Price Match Guarantee in place. Seamstar also currently have 15% off ribbons – great for Christmas projects or posh wrapping! To claim your 15% off, you need to enter the code 15%ribbons when checking out.

I haven’t mentioned Rag Rescue for ages, which is very remiss of me because it’s an absolutely fab shop for picking up vintage fabrics, haberdashery and other sewing related bits and pieces. The beautiful buttons that they have going in to their shop tomorrow seem like a very good reason to give them a mention. Aren’t they lovely? It’s a great idea to follow the Rag Rescue blog because it gives you a useful warning of when there’s going to be new gorgeousness arriving.

The Quilt Room’s new website is up and running and looking great. A fantastic improvement on the old one – the design is really attractive and far more friendly. There’s a full search facility, you can browse fabric collections or search fabrics by colour too. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t been round there for a while.

And finally tonight, the Fabric Loft’s Sunday Stash offer is a bright floursack fabric – a lovely red plaid background with a floral print. There’s 15% off this one until Wednesday 2nd Nov.

And, a tiny reminder… you’ve got until midnight tonight to sign up to win my wise owl wallet…

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
