An owl-y purse / wallet

A couple of people have asked me about commissioning purses (if you’re in the USA, I mean wallet) recently, so I started to think about a pattern. I was getting absolutely NOWHERE (I’ve had a couple of attempts before and always found my ideas far too complicated to put into construction), so I thought I’d see if there was a tutorial or pattern I could use instead (ensuring that commercial use was ok of course!). I think I’ve found it over at Fabricaholic. This is a great tutorial, with excellent, helpful pictures, and a really fantastic design, and the designer has very generously allowed limited commercial usage.

Here’s my first go, completed today:

Prototype purse / wallet

As promised earlier on Facebook – I’m going to give this version away… So, if you’d like a very owly wallet / purse, then just leave a comment before Sunday night, and I’ll use Mr Random to select a winner.. You don’t get my Camping and Caravanning club membership card as a free gift though, or the Β£7.20!

  1. Really love this purse I the colour of the material you have chosen is so eye-catching. Looking forward to trying this myself! πŸ™‚

  2. I truly love this!! It is so very cool and wish I could win something like the wallet. The fabric choices are wonderful!

  3. How beautiful and I adore owls. Please include me in your giveaway and I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you pick my name out.
    Thanks
    Chrissie xx

  4. What a cute wallet! My toddler just learned to say “who” for owls so he’d be ecstatic to practice everytime I pulled out the wallet!

  5. Oh, this is lovely, Ali! I came over from FB for a closer look – it’s so hard to find a good purse with a decent section for coins as well as being able to store notes and cards.
Owls are always cute – thanks for the chance to win such a gorgeous and useful prize πŸ™‚

  6. Such a cute wallet! I saw this post on your fb and had to get a better look. I’m going to have to check out that tutorial for sure!

  7. Hi, here’s my cheeky random comment! Mary Emmens linked to you on her FB and I
was drawn in by the owls. They are wondrous! X

  8. Wow you are so clever! This is absolutely gorgeous. There are so many lovely craft things on Facebook. I would absolutely looove to win this & I’d be sure to tell all my friends where they could buy one ;-))) x

  9. Id look after those little owlies very well, although im not sure they’d be in the company of so much cash again in my hands! Thanks for the giveaway πŸ˜‰

  10. Absolutely love it Ali – lovely fabric as usual, especially the cute owls. I think the design is brilliant as there are plenty of coin purses and fabric style wallets, but this combines the two and you don’t see many around. I agree the tutorial looks great too. I am keeping my fingers crossed as I would love to win this.
    Keep up the good work

  11. Oh wow, that is gorgeous! Would love to enter, would give it to a friend as a gift if I won as I bet she would absolutely love it! (Although I would be tempted to keep it for myself too…)

    Fingers crossed!

  12. Ooh, that looks cute. I’m going to have to bite the bullet and make a new wallet soon, but I’m trying to ignore my current one falling apart while I get a few other projects out of the way!
