A new shop for the Big List: Fair Trade Fabrics

Lilac Lily print from Fair Trade FabricsOne of the great things about going to the Festival of Quilts at the NEC this year was having the chance to browse all the lovely fabric stalls (it wasn’t great for my credit card mind you…). One stall that really caught my eye was Fair Trade Fabrics – I loved the beautiful colours and weaves of the fabric on display, and was really impressed with their stance on only selling cotton that provides a fair wage for the people who grow and weave it (amongst other very excellent Fair Trade things) – you can read more about where their fabrics come from on their site.

Charm Pack from Fair Trade Fabrics

I’ve now had a chance to have a proper look at their online shop and I’m really pleased to be adding it to my Big List of Online Fabric Shops in the UK. There’s a lovely selection of fabrics, with lots of beautiful colours and weaves available, and a few prints too – I love this beautiful lily print, for example. Fabrics are available by the metre (mostly at £10 per metre) or Fat Quarter, and there are FQ bundles and very prettily packaged Charm Packs available too. The payment options are credit card and Paypal, and the delivery charges are £2.30 plus 20p per item.

News, giveaways and offers

Stitch magazine available at HuluThe winter issue of Quilting Arts StitchMagazine is now available at Hulu – the theme of the issue is Texture – and there’s a special focus on sewing with felt, faux leather and suede – very useful for winter. There’s always lots of great projects in Stitch magazine – and although it seems pretty pricey, so far I have found it very well worth the price.
