Fabric Update

Vignette at Hulu CraftsIssue 4 of the rather marvellous Vignette quilting and stitching magazine from Leanne Beasley of Leanne’s Houseis now available over at Hulu Crafts. While you’re over there, check out Hulu’s fabrics – they have a lovely selection of Christmas fabrics, both traditional and modern, including some very useful bundles.

Christmas fabrics at SeamstarTo be honest, I’m still in ‘hands over ears and singing ‘lalala” mode about Christmas, but if you are a bit more organised than me, lots of shops have scrumptious Christmas fabrics now in. Seamstar has some really funky stuff – how cool are these cute little Christmas owls? There’s also some fab new gift tins, hampers and and jars packed full with lovely fabric, haberdashery or notions. It’s got to be time to update your own Christmas wish list!

There’s a fabulous 10% off everything sale on at Saints and Pinners, so that they can make room for gorgeous new fabrics over the next few weeks. You need to enter the code ‘newthings’ when you check out in order to get the discount.

Kona Solids from Robert Kaufman are becoming more an more widely available in UK shops – which has got to be a good thing – it’s so useful for lovely linings, backings, sashings and more. Latest to stock them is the excellent River Fabrics, where there are 100 plus colours in stock.

There’s still some amazing bargains to be had at Quality Fabrics 4 U on Ebay. There’s up to 50% off, and there seems to be a discount on every fabric in the shop – so this is well worth a look.

Warm colours oilcloth pack from Viva La FridaIf you sew with oilcloth then  you’ll want to check out the new packs now available from the wonderfully colourful Viva La Frida – a specialist seller of Mexican oilcloth. The packs contain a minimum of 1m x 1.2m of oilcloth with at least 5 different patterns, and you can select from warm colours, cool colours, mixed colours or a custom colour selection. Regular readers will know that I am a huge fan of smaller fabric packs, so you’ll not be surprised that I think this is a brilliant idea.

That’s it for me for tonight! It’s been over a year now since I put together the Big List of UK Fabric Shops, so I am planning to update it over the next couple of weeks. If you have any comments or shops to suggest, do please give me a shout – just leave a comment or drop me an email any time.

  1. Thanks for all these great tips! And as the lucky winner of your recent Kokka fabric giveaway, I’m delighted to say the fabric arrived in the post today and they are gorgeous! I was also very excited when I spied the recipe card you included with package … I love to bake and oat biscuits are one of my all time favourites! Many thanks again and I’m looking forward to your updated list of UK fabric shops. It’s a wonderful resource.

We always love reading your comments... go ahead, say hello!
