Some new makes

I’ve had one of my (very) infrequent bursts of enthusiasm for finishing things off. Maybe it’s to distract myself from thinking of More Stuff to Do with Plums… (19 kg picked so far!).  Here they all  – you can find them in my Etsy and my Folksy shops (excuse shameless advertising – I need the money to buy jam jars…).

A bag made with the absolutely gorgeous dramatic fabric – Loves Me, Loves Me Not by Anna Maria Horner, from the Innocent Crush collection. It’s lined with Denyse Schmidt’s Four Square in Fiesta.

What do you think of my lovely vintage Ercol chair plus newly painted white wall? I’m really pleased with how useful these are going to be for my photos!

Another bag, this time made with some cute Japanese linen. It’s a kid-sized bag this time:

I’ve also been making some coin purses and pencil/tool cases. I love this fabric from Kokka – I call it Mean Owls.. because I do believe these owls are amongst the tougher of their species!

This purse is made with some of the lovely fabric by Erin McMorris (Flower Pop) that I won in the Celtic Fusion Fabrics giveaway – a big thank you to Gwen, they are such gorgeous fabrics. It’s lined with one of my favourites – Crosshatch from the Farmdale range from Alexander Henry.

I really love this combination of Vintage Dishes (by the fab Melody Miller), with the red polka dot lining and the turquoise zip.

Vintage Dishes Pencil Case

Another pouch, slightly bigger than my usual pencil cases, really useful for storing quilting stuff I think – including scissors, pens, rulers and rotary cutters, maybe.

Kitty in the woods pouch

And finally, a patched and quilted cushion – this is the patchwork I put together for my latest colour experiment. I am really pleased with how it’s worked out – although I know this lovely bright combination wouldn’t be to everyone’s taste!

The fabrics are by Philip Jacobs, Denyse Schmidt (it’s Four Square again, am addicted!) and Kaffe Fasset.

Thanks for getting this far!  If after all that you are inspired to buy some fabric, you might like to know that Sew Me Happy is having a sale at the moment – there’s 20% off until midnight Thursday, with the code SUMMER20. Enjoy!

  1. My problem is completely opposite to yours – too many jam jars/not enough plums! Perhaps that’s why I’m not very productive? I love all the little purses and must get round to making some myself to use some of my zips.

  2. Hi Ali,
I’ve asked on FB, but will ask here too. 🙂 I’m looking for a coin purse at the mo, but want one a bit smaller than those. Would you do me a custom one a bit smaller (to just-fit-a-credit-card size)?
    Thank you.

  3. For goodness sakes woman, I am drowning in jam jars. No need for shameless advertising. Say the word and I will relieve my groaning jar shelves in your direction.
