Weekly Fabric Update

It’s so quiet at the moment that there’s not much to tell you about this week.. Everyone is on holiday..! Over at The Fabric Loft Lizzet is working hard (I hope you’ve had your hols already Lizzet!) plugging away and has her usual lovely Sunday Stash offer. It’s this striking voile fabric designed by Anna Maria Horner called Mixed Signals – reduced from £14 to £11 per metre.

Seamstar have some very attractive new organic fabrics in from Birch. The collection is called Storyboek by Jay-Cyn Designs and has lots of super-trendy grey and yellow designs. I particularly love these sweet little whales. There’s a His and Hers version of the collection which I slightly disapprove of (I’m that kind of old-fashioned feminist who hates gender stereotyping by colour…), but they are still really cute. Perhaps I should be a tiny bit subversive and buy all the pink flowery ones to make stuff for my boys…

Calico Laine are in a big hunt to get 2000 followers on Facebook by the end of August. If they reach this target, one lucky winner will received £200 to spend with them online. Not a bad reason to pop round and follow them. If you don’t know Calico Laine already, they don’t have loads of trendy fabrics, but they do have lots of good value basics, like Klona cottons, linens and corduroys – as well as lots of lovely haberdashery.

It was brilliant to meet the lovely people behind The Eternal Maker at the Festival of Quilts last week, and get my hands on some gorgeous Ruby Star Spring from Melody Miller – apparently The Eternal Maker has it even before they have it in the shops in the USA – now THAT makes a nice change!  You can read more about it over on The Eternal Maker blog, and get it from the shop here. Love the bee!

Whilst we’re on the subject of linen/cotton mixes, I spotted these really sweet Kokka prints on linen at Fabric Inspirations – I haven’t seen them anywhere else (so far!).

I can’t decide whether I like the coffee pots or the birds best… how about you?

If you are thinking about dress making for kids for autumn then you might be interested in the lovely Robert Kaufman corduroys that Frumble have new in stock.  There are some solids in lovely bright colours and some  fab prints too. This cute flower print would make a great pinafore would’t it..

I’m going to end this post on an aspirational note… the new season Liberty fabrics are now available. It’s called Liberty Rocks and there’s some gobsmackingly lovely stuff.  For four of the new designs they’ve worked with musicians to create some incredible prints. This one is by Graham Coxon:

and this one by the fabulous and inspirational Edwyn Collins – the drawings were made as part of his rehabilitation after a severe cerebral haemorrhage:
