Focus on Clothkits
I was reminded by my friend Katie, and by an advert in the new craft magazine Mollie Makes, that it’s a long time since I checked out the range in stock at Clothkits – the last time I looked was when I was putting together the Very Big List of UK Fabric Shops, back in July 2010, and there wasn’t quite enough stock for me to feel like I wanted to include it (much as I loved the stuff!). But having looked again, it’s definitely got to be added – there’s now a really good selection of fabrics, haberdashery, notions, and more, as well as the sewing kits that Clothkits is famous for.
There are lovely Echino linens, a small but delightful selection of Liberty Prints, some fantastically colourful and summery striped canvas fabrics. I find the Liberty Print bias binding on wooden bobbins almost irresistible (but will have to resist because it isn’t cheap..) – fortunately it is available by the metre too, and the ribbon and trim section is a marvel – such a well chosen collection, including lovely bits and bobs from VV Rouleaux.
It’s also nicely laid out, and seems a very easy to use site, so I would say it’s well worth a look – especially if you are interested in getting some funky haberdashery.
There’s some great stuff over in the sale at Celtic Fusion Fabrics at excellent prices. There’s Japanese imports from Kokka, as well as Alexander Henry, Michael Miller & more. The sale runs until Sunday June 12th.
Over at M is for Make, Kate is doing some fab new fat 16th bundles. They are brilliant. I think I have said before how much I love smaller bundles of fabric (it’s so great to just be able to buy a little bit, for a small project, or just to check a fabric out). So I’m delighted that these have been added to the M is for Make range. There’s also some new scrap bundles in stock too, and the sale section has some fabulous offers.
Lizzet from The Fabric Loft has been in touch to let me know that she is starting a new tradition! Every Sunday she will announce a special deal on a particular fabric, for just 2 days (Sunday and Monday). You can find out what the deal is by following The Fabric Loft on Twitter or checking out Lizzet’s Fabric Loft blog. A brilliant idea – and just to get you started the 1st offer is a very good price of £4 per half metre for Scarf Stripe in grey from Sherbet Pips.
Blooming Felt has its regular monthly giveaway on at the moment. You have the opportunity to win 5 metres of ribbon, or pompom trim, or bias binding, or waxed cotton cord, or beading elastic from the range in their shop. Here’s the blog post with all the details.
If you are after a huge bargain then Doughty’s have a clearance sale on some Rowan/Kaffe Fassett collection fabrics and also on their Colour Wall fabrics (some of these would make great basic, good value additions to your stash). There’s up to 50% off, so its well worth a look.
Fancy Moon also still has a great sale on at the moment, with 20% off the fabrics in the Sale Section. I couldn’t resist some of this cute Morning Call Breakfast print from Hoodie… Good price and quick delivery – I was really pleased with it.
