Scraps

It’s definitely the thing to put together scrap packs at the moment. It’s not surprising because it’s such a great way of adding value for fabric shoppers – especially in these straightened times! The Quilter’s Cloth has now joined the shops offering scraps – they still have some available – although they seem to have a sold out fast!

Scrap pack from the Vintage Fabric Market

Have you checked out the Vintage Fabric Market’s Patchwork Pieces & Scrap Bags recently? There’s lots of new stuff – some of it very funky indeed. I particularly like this little pack with these wonderfully graphic zigzags – but there’s plenty more to choose from.

Whilst I’m on the subject of scrap packs, it’s really worth checking out this fabulous blog post by Laura, who has done some brilliant work tracking down all kinds of small fabric packs and scrap packs available in UK shops and compared and contrasted them. She really knows how to suffer for her art! She’s also included links to lots of ideas of what to do with your scraps once you have them…  Brilliant!

Pom pom de Paris at Hulu Crafts Hulu Crafts has the really cutely named Pom Pom de Paris by French General as pre-cuts (Layer Cakes, Jelly Rolls and Charm packs). These are very pretty, chintzy, spring-like fabrics – if you like them, you’re sure to like the trad-style quilt patterns available on the French General website. Simply Solids have Pom Pom de Paris in stock too.

Liberty silk satin from Ray StitchRay Stitch has some gorgeous Liberty Silks now in – with more to come. These are just wonderful dressmaking fabrics. As always with Liberty prints, I am drawn to the beautiful organic shapes and colours – this silk satin is called Fellowes, and I think is my favourite from the range at Ray Stitch, which you can see in full here.

Alexander Henry fabric Goo Goo Great at SeamstarSeamstar have some groovy new Alexander Henry fabrics in stock . I love the cute, but not icky, Goo Goo fabrics especially – this particular print (left) really reminds me of the Janet and Allan Ahlberg books that my boys used to love (and me too!) when they were small – like Peepo and Each Peach Pear Plumb. All the new fabrics are showcased here on the Seamzine blog.

Sales and Promos

There’s 20% off Doughty’s colour wall fabrics until Tuesday 3 May. Great for basics – and as the name suggests, the sections are divided up very helpfully into colours, so it’s a great way of rectifying any colour gaps in your stash.

Quilt Kit made using Oakshott fabricsYou just have time to take advantage of the a 20% Easter discount at Oakshott Fabrics, which comes to an end on Tues 3 May. I urge you to go and have a look at these beautiful handwoven quilting cottons – I think that this quilt (right) really showcases the beautiful, rich colours of these fabrics, and what can be done with them.
