A swap to cheer up February

February has got to take the prize for being the worst month of the year – it still seems like a huge long slog until we get to a little bit of spring sunshine & warmth. I thought it would be fun to cheer things up with an easy, uncomplicated swap, that wont cost you too much time or money. So…. who’s up for a scrap fabric swap?

The rules:

* Leave a comment here, Β then email me – veryberryhandmade (at) gmail (dot) com – with your name, your postal address & any other details you want to include – it’s always nice to tell people your website or blog address for example.

* I’ll match you up with your swap partner & let you have their details by 8th Feb

* Pack up around 100g (4oz) of fabric in a padded envelope

– fabric must be good quality

– fabric must be clean & relatively crumple free

– scraps should be no smaller than 5cm x 5cm (2″x2″)

– at least three-quarters of the fabric scraps should be 100% cotton

– you can include vintage or thrifted fabric as long as it meets the above criteria

* Include any other treats or crafting / sewing goodies that you want to put in your parcel (don’t go mad – let’s keep this pressure-free!)

* Send your parcel off to your swap recipient by 28 February

* Keep in touch and let us know how your swap has gone

* Non-UK people are welcome to take part – but please let me know if you are not happy to post abroad.

I think that’s everything I need to say – PLEASE let me know if I’ve missed something obvious! This is my first time organising a swap so feeling a teeny bit nervous…

  1. Oh yes please, count me in, too! I have an enormous fabric stash glaring accusingly at me from the corner of the office, maybe if I shuffle it about a bit it’ll boot me into doing something creative with it πŸ™‚

  2. Oh yes! I did one of these last year and it was the most fun I’ve had in blogland. I’ll be emailing you right away. And by the way February 8th is my birthday….

  3. oh count me in, my first fabric swap. My mail is so dull, dull, dull since I’m on a fabric diet so this will brighten things up a great deal, fab idea!

  4. What a great idea! Although I have to take issue with grey February, what about all the great ‘February’ songs! Such as February Song by Josh Grogan, February Stars by Foo Fighters, January February by Barbara Dickson, One February Friday by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, February Air by the Lights, and February by Fleur. I could go on but I suspect I’m irritating you now. Count me in! Will email you shortly. Hope you’re well. Emma x PS to get back into Blogging I’ll Blog your swap!

  5. This sounds like an utterly fabulous idea, and what a great way to get to meet lots of lovely crafters at the same time πŸ™‚ Definitely count me in!

  6. This sounds like a fun way to cheer up a dreary February which, despite being the shortest month of the year, always seems to be the longest!
Not sure how much 4oz of fabric really is but I’m sure I can manage it, even with my limited stash.

  7. I’m up for this! I’ve joined the flickr group Stashpact 11 which means no buying of new fabric, however swapping is absolutely fine and dandy πŸ™‚
