I’ll be updating the big list of fabric shops in the UK with a couple of new shops in the next few days. Here they are:
The unique selling point of Simply Solids (as indicated by their name!) is that they sell an extensive range of Robert Kaufman’s Kona Solids – gorgeous quilting fabrics in a lovely range of colours. There are some other great patterned fabrics too, including, for example, Laurie Wisbrun’s new Tufted Tweets. They also offer free delivery on orders over £15, which seems like excellent value to me.
This is a really promising-looking new shop in Leamington Spa, with this very attractive online presence. Bernadette, the owner of the shop, says that she is inspired by the intriguing haberdashers shops of her childhood. She is certainly carrying this vision through in her stock, which is a good mix of useful and pretty fabrics, threads, ribbons, buttons and other crafting materials. Fabric-wise her on-line stock includes a small, but very pretty range of patchwork cottons, as well as utility and dressmaking fabrics – not a huge range as yet, but it’s well worth a visit.
The brilliant folks at Backstitch (with help from publishers David and Charles – recent winners of the best craft book publisher award) have a giveaway with a copies of Simple Sewn Gifts by Helen Philipps up for grabs. The competition closes at midnight on Tuesday 21 September, so there’s still time to pop round and leave a comment on the Backstitch blog to be in with a chance of winning this really useful-looking book (Christmas is coming!). It will also give you a chance to browse Backstitch’s very good range of stylish fabrics – definitely recommended.
End of Summer Sale
There’s a 10% off offer at the brilliant emporium of vintage fabrics – Donna Flower, just until the end of September. I’m hugely excited because I’ve just spotted this absolutely gorgeous spools of vintage fabric bias binding… ooooh, can I resist?!
On the subject of vintage fabric sales, Wednesday’s fabric update will be all about vintage fabric sellers, so please, if you have any that you want to recommend, please, get in touch.
